Our First Week In Honduras

After a quick stop in Tegucigalpa, we arrived at Orphanage Emmanuel in Guaimaca, Honduras last Tuesday. The natural beauty here is unparallelled, but the extreme poverty is evident in every building, road, and even the faces of the people.

Sleeping In The Airport

The orphanage has approximately 450 children here, from infants to teenagers. Kellan has been assigned to the small boy's house (ages 4-7), doing everything from helping them get ready in the morning, serving food, helping them shower, and taking them to the clinic. Kellan has helped sell a cow to a local, snaked a log with the tractor, carried heavy objects, and various other "man" things.

Kari Playing With The Toddlers

Kari has been assigned the small girl's house (ages 4-10), which includes helping them get ready in the morning, serving food, cleaning dishes, giving them showers and getting ready for bed. Kari also takes care of the toddlers and works in medical clinic.

We are working hard at learning Spanish and adjusting to life here. Stay tuned for our next update!
