Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!

All of the kids except the toddlers gathered in the church to open presents on Christmas Eve (they celebrate Christmas on the 24th here). The toddlers opened their gifts separately. Each child received at least two boxes of presents, with each box containing many smaller gifts and trinkets. There were over 2000 gifts under the tree! It was quite a sight to see over 500 kids all open their presents on the count of three. Before opening the gifts they served fried chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and tortillas; which was a big treat for the kids because their typical diet consists of rice and beans. On Christmas Day the children put on a play at church.

All of the new children that arrived last month are doing great. The toddlers no longer have scabies and only a few others caught it. They have also gained weight, are more trusting, and smiling. The chicken pox are finally over too. It has come in waves, but the last few got it last week.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have a Happy New Year.
